Cleaning of beaches and oceans

Obtain: “Clean ocean, clean future”

Objective: Protect marine ecosystems and coastal areas by organizing a beach and ocean cleanup campaign to reduce pollution, improve water quality, and raise awareness about the importance of keeping our seas clean.

To achieve the goal of protecting the oceans and beaches, our school community carried out a large cleanup campaign along the coast near our town.The project was presented to the principal and approved after a detailed plan was created with the participation of students, teachers, and local volunteers. Once approved, the closest beaches with the most waste accumulation were selected for the activity. Before the cleanup, a short environmental workshop was held at school to explain the dangers of ocean pollution and how plastic and other waste affect marine life. Students learned about the types of materials that can be recycled and how to separate garbage correctly.

On the day of the cleanup, the participants gathered early in the morning equipped with gloves, reusable bags, and containers to collect the waste. The beach was divided into different areas so that each group could work more efficiently. Bottles, plastic bags, metal cans, cigarette butts, and other debris were collected and classified for later recycling or proper disposal. During the activity, teamwork and respect for nature were encouraged.

At the end of the day, several kilograms of waste were removed from the beach. The difference was immediately visible—the sand looked cleaner, and the nearby water clearer.The collected materials were delivered to recycling centers and local authorities recognized the effort of the students for their contribution to the community.

Finally, a reflection session was organized at school, where students shared what they learned about ocean pollution and discussed how small daily actions can make a big difference.The project not only improved the condition of the beaches but also strengthened environmental awareness and responsibility among all participants.

Thanks to this initiative, the school community proved that with commitment and collaboration, it is possible to make a real change for the planet.
